800 ml of milk (approximately 3.4 cups)1 lemon peel2 cinnamon sticks8 thick slices of bread for French toast1 apple (a little more if needed)3 eggsCooking oil for frying (as needed)2 tablespoons of sugar (for sprinkling)Ground cinnamon (for dusting)

Preparation
- Gently heat the milk in a saucepan with the lemon peel and cinnamon sticks, being careful not to let it boil and remove from heat and set aside.
- Soak the bread slices in the warm milk, then top each slice with a slices of thinly sliced apple.
- Dip the slices in beaten eggs and fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels and let cool slightly.
- Mix sugar with cinnamon to taste for sprinkling.
- Dip each slice in the sugar-cinnamon mixture and serve.
