Ingredients

1 2 lb live crab8 cups of water4 and 1/2 tablespoons of salt1 bay leaf1 bunch of parsley1 onion skin1 hard-boiled egg1 tablespoon of chopped onion1 tablespoon of chopped parsley2 tablespoons of chopped pickles1 tablespoon of vinegar2 tablespoons of mayonnaise1 teaspoon of breadcrumbs1 pinch pepper

Get Portuguese ingredients

Preparation

  1. Boil the crab in the water with the salt, bay leaf, onion skin and bunch of parsley for 15 minutes.
  2. Let it cool completely on ice.
  3. Open the crab, separate the claws and remove and discard the lungs and appendices that look like feathers.
  4. Place the chopped insides of the crab, the grated egg, onion, parsley, pickles, vinegar, pepper, breadcrumbs and mayonnaise in a bowl.
  5. Mix well and check if the seasoning and consistency are okay.
  6. Store in the refrigerator until serving time. 
  7. When serving, stuff the crab shell with the mixture and accompany with toast.
